“It was always with a feeling of excitement that I would turn off the Broadway, busy with traffic, into a small laneway leading to the door of the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio. There was a repair shop for fridges and whitegoods on the ground floor and I seem to remember perhaps a jeweller or a goldsmith in the building as well…”

Having lived at the Sydney Children’s Hospital for the last 35 years, we collected the sculpture earlier this year with its chips and scratches, having seen a lot of use, appreciation and play in its life.
It's been a busy couple of months for TBSSS teachers and guest teachers, whose work has been included in sculpture prizes and exhibitions. We thought we'd share news of recent achievements, as well as extend our congratulations.
The opening of the Sydney Metro this month saw Tom Bass’ famous ‘Fountain’ sculpture wonderfully restored and reinstated at the new Martin Place Metro Station.

Sculpture Club Journal is run by the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School.
This Journal is a place to come and explore all things sculpture. A place to find interesting links to podcasts and films, to be inspired by historical and contemporary artists, to see the work of TBSSS students, teachers and guest teachers. We’ll also be diving into our rich Studio archive to share images and stories. This is a place to share ideas and to come together as a community. We very much welcome comments, discussion and if you have a submission for a feature, we would love to hear from you!
